MSW are renowned for their lighting design and this tower installation in Vienna shows an unprecedented example of the architectural relevance of video. The visual twists and turns consist of line and framework constellations that interpret the building by running in various directions, gauges and forms. Amazing work but I’d hate to see the utility bill.

The METI School designed by Anna Heringer and Eike Roswag is a building project in Rudrapur, Bangladesh that does more than just teach kids. It shows the people who live in that area the goodness of using the resources they already have in rural building development. By showing the benefits of good design (which you know we like a lot) and planning, the quality of life could be improved for the people in rural areas and jobs can be created. Now everyone is happy and there can be rainbows, sparkles, and unicorns all around. (via ArchDaily)

A building in Portland, Oregon is getting a green makeover by Cutler Anderson and it involves lots of vines and other vegetation. The architects plan on putting up vertical garden “fins” on the building’s walls so that they can cut the building’s energy costs and provide shade. It doesn’t hurt that they’ll look awesome, too.
