It’s true, vintage furniture is so hot even Crate and Barrel is getting in on the trend. There’s no denying this desk is hot shit and you will look cooler than Cool Hand Luke while sitting behind it, but unless you sell your car, laptop and ditch the health insurance, you’re probably like me and can’t afford it. Oh well, maybe we should have a furniture party and make it ourselves? [via CM]

This has Ace Hotel written all over it. You love it, we love it, it’s mid-century modern perfection. From the antlers on the wall to that retro-awesome couch. Yes, please. [via QCS]

I’d definitely sport a few of these upcycled ottomans in a workplace lounge or loft space. Each one is upholstered using fair trade coffee bags and no two are exactly the same. If they also opened up for storage or I could hollow them out to make a George Costanza style fridge, they’d really rule.

Bringing new meaning to the ‘waste not, want not’ mentality, The Papervore turns your old magazines and junk mail into a chromatic work of art. With its super clean design and a red handle that begs to be cranked, this coffee table would surely steal the spotlight in your modern abode. Bonus: your gerbil will be grateful for his new bedding and you’ll never run out of shipping supplies.

This is what I think Jaime Hayón was thinking when he designed Green Chicken: “The world has had enough traditional-looking chickens, so I will make a modern one. It will be a very special chicken because it also happens to be green and it will be a rocking chair.” It’s a piece of furniture, but I think I’d get more kicks and giggles out of staring at it rather than actually using it. I’d love to see this sitting in a room!

“Odds & ends, bits & pieces” by Netherland studio Jo Meesters is part of an ongoing experimental project about rejuvenating and reusing discarded material. The collection consists of four furniture pieces (a stool, bed, bookshelf and shelving unit) made entirely out of 34 discarded wooden beams and 16 leftover blankets. Holy amazing. You gotta see more of these photos on designboom.

This piece of furniture by OMNI+ is anything you want it to be and more. It can be used as a table in the living room, a storage space in the kitchen, or a home for DVD movies you’re embarrassed about having in the first place. It even has adjustable shelving! What would you use it for?

If I saw this stool from PIE Studio, I’d want to sit on it. I don’t know but there’s something about its roundness that I find kind of great. It also comes with a small drawer that I want to open and close (whether there’s anything in there or not). Yup, awesome.

So Craigslist is great if you’re looking for an apartment or a camcorder made in the early 90’s, but it comes up rather short when you’re trying to find say, an Eames Lounge Chair. This is where Lushpad.com comes into play. Basically, it’s a posting board for people looking to buy/sell expensive furniture and art at a marked down price. Again, Craigslist for the yuppy of discerning taste and limited resources.
